My name is Bjorn, and this is my story so far:

My childhood family was very dysfunctional. My mother was "New Age" looney tune, and really kept me out of the real world as much as possible.
When I was three I watched her boyfriend (who we lived with) gun down my dad with six(?) rifle shots. That also messed me up, because we never really talked about it at home. I went to a child psychologist, but we didn't really talk about it there, either-- we just played with star wars toys.
When faced with violence in broken homes, many children turn to crime and gangs for family. I didn't, I went the nerd route. I spent alot of time hanging out at my local comic shop. I developed a lifelong friendship with the clerk there, a retired hippy who took me under his wing.
I moved out shortly after I turned eighteen. My ex-stepdad kicked my mother out a few months later and married the next door neighbor. My half-siblings, one brother and two sisters, moved between the two alot. My ex-stepdad moved to New York City in 2004, I've heard.
I grew up with my siblings, but until summer of 2004 (when I started working on reestablishing familial connections) I hadn't seen them but a handful of times in my adult life. I haven't seen my Mother since 1995.
I still spend time with my father's side of the family, organic farmers and ranchers in midwestern minnesota.
I lived in St Paul initially, and the whole world was so new to me. One of my friends from that period (1992- 1994) was ursulav, and she desribed me as an alien.
I moved to downtown minneapolis in 1994, and stayed there for about five years. I came of age there, a little late, and the climax was when I lived in a warehouse and turned it into a nightclub.
When I turned 23 in 1997, I closed the bar, and bought a house with my then girlfriend Laura. We bought a dog (a basenji, Loki), and I thought of myself as comfortably middle-aged.

Laura and I broke up in 1999, and shortly thereafter I quit school and lost my job at the Minneapolis Club, where I had worked since February 1995. I made a living doing odd jobs, occasionally working at Planet Hollywood, and day trading stocks.

That summer I started going out with moxx. We lived together until summer 2001. After losing my savings along with everyone else in the bubble burst, I lived on student loans and rent from three roommates. maus, Shawn, and moxx. They were all moved out by sept 2002.
I finally got a real job at a hospital cafeteria in March of 2001, and since then I've worked up to being the supervisor of the ER Admissions team. In June 2005, I stepped down from being a supervisor to go back to college and try to complete my degree.
I started running in 2001, and ran in the Twin Cities Marathon in 2002. I missed the registration for this year.
I reconnected with girl with whom I went to college in 2002, and that ended just recently. or maybe not. We seem to keep re-reconnecting. I'm not clear what's going to happen next.
